A Prior Learning Assessment Convening

Hosted by the Maine Development Foundation and

Underwritten by the Finance Authority of Maine (FAME)

When:              Friday, September 27,  9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Where:                        Lewiston, Maine – Location TBD

Lunch will be provided.  There is no fee to attend. Registration will open in August 2013.

 Why should you attend?

Now more than ever, it is critical for a thriving Maine economy to support our adult learners.  Prior Learning Assessment allows adults to gain college-level credit from work and life experience, a practice that keeps adults engaged in school on a track to graduation, and allows them to attain a degree more quickly.

 At this event, you will:

  • Gain an understanding of Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), why it is important, and how it is used across the nation from experts at the Council for Adult & Experiential Learning (CAEL).
  • Understand the current status of PLA usage in Maine and hear from Maine institutions using PLA in successful and innovative ways.
  • Participate in workgroups to create actionable strategies for broadening PLA access and usage for Maine adult learners.
